Recently I've been having a lot of trouble getting texts. I use the hello app for messaging and I receive some texts, but lately I've just been getting the "receiving message" notification indefinitely.

There are settings for text messaging that originally came with the Galaxy S4 which were the default and and can be changed. Where you've chosen to use an application other than the original, you'd have to go into the settings of the hello app to configure what to use as default. Or the settings of the original to make the change.
