How do I disable the Visual Voice Mail notification?

I have a new Samsung Galaxy S6. Everytime I get a voicemail if I click on the voicemail notification icon it asks me to set up visual voicemail for $2.99 a month. I do NOT want visual voice mail. I can get to voice mail by holding the "1" key when dialing or hitting *86 but I miss the convenience of being able to quickly press the notification (like I've been doing on phones for the last 5 years). Very annoying - is there any way to disable this and get the notification to just tell me I have voicemail and let me access it without the constant "set up your visual voicemail" notification?

You can get the Visual Voicemail for free. The $2.99 is for Premium which will transcribe message (as best it can) into text. You can skip that during set up. I turned off the notifications for this app and did a test. I did not receive a notification of incoming voicemail. Do the setup and say No Thank You to the $2.99 charge.

The feature is NOT in my account in Verizon. The prompt is asking me to enable the feature.

Apparently there is no way to get a plain-old voicemail dial notification instead of a Visual Voicemail one anymore. This may be a reason to start looking for a new carrier. I just called support - there is only a choice between basic visual and premium with this notification - no way to just get notified I have a voicemail and be able to dial it without switching screens and dialing *86.....

I do know that the app will run in the background 24/7. I had to go through the set up and deny the premium because VoLTE Advanced Calling required or at least set up VVM by default when my phone was updated to AC 1.0.

I like VVM better anyway. I don't have to call in and put in a password and listen to 5 messages before I get the one I want.

My only qualm with vvm was that data had to be enabled 24/7, and on my 1GB plan, and on 5.0.2 with apps no longer having the ability to cut mobile data at set limits is that I would always get a notification that data was disabled and vvm would not work until re-enabled.

They dig this in there nicely so you increase data usage....

Log into myverizon, on the left hand side go to myverizon portion once you log in. On your left go to "Block Services", under purchases go to "Block Visual Voicemail". Then go through the next few prompts. Click accept and make sure the changes were applied. No restart your device. Try to receive a VM now, worked great for my S6 Edge.
