Brigadier & Verizon Messages

Message+ (Verizon Messages) is not playing notification sound or displaying in the status bar when I receive a new text on my Kyocera Brigadier. I prefer the more personalized Message+ over the standard Messaging app, but it's useless if I never know I've received a text. It only vibrates briefly and displays the popup.

I've already checked both the settings in Message+ as well as my system sounds/notifications settings, and I even tried it in safe mode with no improvement.

Any ideas?

Verizon Messages is a great app to use with your phone! I personally use it too and wouldn't want to use anything else. Let's make sure you can get your notifications though so you don't miss any messages. I appreciate you trying all these steps already. If you change the ringtone, does that allow notifications to come in? We'd also like to try to reset the app itself. On your phone: go to Settings, Application Manager, slide to the All tab at the top. Click on Messages+. Select Force Stop and Clear Data. No text messages will be deleted. Personalized settings will be reset but you can easily set them back up afterwards. Once you clear app, restart your phone. Then test app.

I found it! When I went to restart the app like you said, I saw something I had missed before: under App Info in the Application Manager, the box labeled "Show notifications" was not checked. This is why the pop-up feature was working, but not the notification in the status bar, which would have to be active in order for the notification sound to function. At some point, I think I switched it off due to receiving two notifications for the same text (one from Messaging, one from Message+).

Thanks for your help! I wouldn't have noticed it unless you had sent me to the application manager (even though it was my second time checking it, lol).
