LG Exceed stopped sending and receiving texts

My Prepaid Verizon LG Exceed will not send or receive texts, no matter the receivers carrier. It started Monday afternoon and when I tried to call 611 and their 800 # I can hear someone talking but it cuts out and is garbled and I can't understand any of it. My phone isn't damaged in any way.
