Lollipop - HELP!!!

Does anyone know how to UN-Install Lollipop on my Samsung Galaxy S5?! It has continually killed my battery; I use to be able to get two days on my phone and now I cannot make it until I get home from work without having to charge the phone! Also - it keeps crashing my apps - like the simple ones... Messaging. If I get a text message while typing a text; it crashes and goes back to home screen.

Please Help!

There is no way to revert. There are countless threads here that relate to S5 Lollipop issues, some have found success, some have not.

Sorry to hurt yours or any one else's feeling but once the UPDATE is installed it can't be removed or turned back say like on our P.C.'s I also hate to put it like this you have to with these updates read.. read..read and make your best judgment call before you allow the update to take place, now if your phone installed the update without you knowing it then its hard to make the call to whom to be mad at I've had my one of my phones start updating and just before it completed and turned things into chaos I got it stopped..

Next time I might not be so lucky but all I can tell ya is to just hang in there as much as you can until another update comes out to Fix this one that is causing so many issues now.!

My S5 updated yesterday (Mar 5th) and worked fine for 24 hours.

This morning it started locking up and re-booting every 2 minutes (not exaggerating), and shows no sign of stopping.

It will briefly come up to the unlock screen, then glitches, then hangs up on the red screen before shutting down and re-starting.

Very disappointed that there is no official response to the problems with this update.

Well usually on OS updates you can kind of control them by running either before or after the update a Factory Reset but Lollipop has put ill taste in many and Google might want to change the name to Licorice the kind that has that awful Taste or maybe they should change the name too Liver with onions well I know I'm being a bit humorous but this OS has hurt the feelings of many maybe a select few but its done enough Hopefully something will change soon.!

Update:

Tried clearing memory cache which did not help.

Was able to get the phone out of the re-boot loop by shutting down and pulling the battery for a few minutes.

Stays on now, started getting texts again, and seems much less laggy.

Seems to work OK now. Battery is low, but that may just be from all the re-boots.

I am being very VERY VERY careful with my notification panel to avoid the update since it lists itself there as something I can do. It also tries to ask me too when I turn on data AFTER turning my phone on in the morning. Since this came out I called verizon and they said they can't take the ntofication of the update off my phone. I will have to be careful from now until I upgrade my phone since mine was built for kit kat I don't want any other. No help beyond filing for a replacement since its a defect (per my last convo with vzw)

I am told there's no return. At least on a PC they usually have classic view. I wished I'd have known what a horrific thing this Lollipop is. Whoever wrote it was either retarded or on drugs. Nothing works. The texts don't work. The numbers on the phone all run together with no separation. The open apps show up as stupid cascading windows. The notification bar area says Verizon Wireless. I already know that. I haven't even used most of my apps yet. These are the highlights. If you haven't installed it yet, DON'T DO IT! There's nothing user friendly about this phone now. If someone in a store were trying to push this phone on me with this installed, I'd promptly tell them to shove it.

If you had kept the phone up to date with system and app updates, than you wouldn't be having these software problems. Samsung Galaxy s6 will be released Apr. 10th 2015 with Lollipop 5 pre-installed, and it will work fine. You can be 100% sure of that.

I have kept the phone up to date from yay 1. When something stinks, it

smells nonetheless. You have no idea what you're talking about. This update

even took away my input keyboard.

Mkrue, 73 million Samsung Galaxy s5 phones were sold last year. That is not my count but what CNN reported. So whether you buy one or not or know how to keep software compatible makes very little difference.

Same continuous rebooting problems but mine started as soon as the update was complete. After finally just pulling the battery, since the constant rebooting music was annoying all my co-workers, I charged over night with phone off to no avail. After turning phone back on this morning I noticed there's no cell signal and no data. Checked "Settings/About Phone/Status" and found that the phone now thinks there's no SIM card installed, which might explain why it keeps rebooting.

I did notice that if the phone is plugged into the charger, and I have the music playing, the phone doesn't reboot continuously. It does reboot sometimes in the middle of a song but not near as much as it does without.

Took my phone to the Verizon store tonight and showed them the problem. Guy took it in the back and came out 20 minutes later and now have phone and data signal. Told me all he did was a hard reboot on the phone and can't find a problem. Seems to be working alright now and at least I have a phone signal and it's not rebooting continuously any longer.

One thing I showed him was on boot up there was an unlocked "lock" symbol on the samsung screen with "custom" below it. When he returned my phone it was no longer there but he saw it too and told me he had never seen that before.

I would recommend you first wipe partition cache and see if anything is aided, otherwise you're looking at a FDR.

Unfortunately there's no way to go back on an upgrade in a manner that Verizon will support, that will not void your warranty or that Verizon will allow to be posted on this forum.

Now, if I were you and I were not going to do anything to my warranty I would say first you should wipe partition cache and check, then if it doesn't help do a FDR followed by another partition cache wiping. Don't automatically put all apps back on but instead do it bit by bit so that you would know if any bad apps are draining the battery. To aid battery life I recommend you add on greenify and disable the bloat provided you don't use any of the bloat apps.

Same here, LG G3, right after the update, the battery drains in half a day (with practically no usage), which used to last day and half before. It goes from 50% to 15% in an hour, and then to 5% in minutes. And with 5% power, it won't even let me take pictures. Before this useless update, I was making tons of pictures with 1% battery, and it lasted pretty long.

And to add to that, all the UI is extremely simplified, but at the same time, extremely slow.

Anyway you slice it, it is obvious somebody (ehm, verizon, ehm) paid money to make sure the old phones don't perform, forcing us to buy new phones. It is telling, how verizon's responses are completely useless and they don't even try to investigate. This will be a nice class action lawsuit.

Good idea. My son and husband both have Samsung Galaxy s5s as do I. I ran the Lollipop update and have tried all manners of recommended fixes. It REALLY sucks. I'm ready to dump Android (I've been loyal to Android from the get-go) and switch to an iPhone. My husband and son changed their settings to do not run automatic updates.

Well, switching to iPhone is not gonna help you, because this update

essentially turned your phone into iphone - pathetic battery life and

childish UI.

But the automatic updates and the fact that you cannot revert is highly

problematic. People nowadays need solid platform, and it should be

Verizon's responsibility if it wants to keep all these high paying

customers, to test software before it pushes it to your phone.

Otherwise, the only way to achieve stable platform is to avoid verizon and

just use wifi to make calls and only get updates that you actually want.

Will verizon do it's job that we pay it for?

Oh they are all liar liar pants on fire. You can revert back to Kit Kat, Just Google it. It's not for the faint of heart and there is a risk YOU take, but it has been successfully done.

What's funny is as big as Google is your telling me they didn't test this first? If they did no one had these problems?

My battery drains

It reboots 4-5 times on it's own

It completes a call it rings at my house pick up the phone and silence on my end and her end.

Contacts disappear

Screen goes dead to touch. Will not do anything.

You can't just NOT take this update that's a load of manure too. It will bug you to death until you do.

My phone only works 50% of the time since May 13th, I think my bill should reflect that too.
