How do i switch from a phone without a sim card to one with?

So I'm looking at phones on ebay and there are a few I'm interested in buying but they say that they require sim card and my current phone doesn't have one. I had a Iphone 5c and it didn't require one either. How do I switch to a phone that has a sim card slot? Do I need to get a sim card if the phone has a slot for it or can I dial the *228 number and program it?

If you still have that SIM card from your 5c, you can simply take it out of the old phone and put it into your new phone in many cases. I never saw a slot for it. That was my last phone, I have a Incredible now.

Yes the 5C has a slot for it. It's an unlocked world phone and it requires a "key" which should be in your box to open it.
