I'm not acusing of anyone doing it here, but I've heard/seen other people refer to any Android phone they see as the "Droids".
Lets clarify something:
The trademark "Droid" is used under liscence from Lucas Films, which means that it was adopted from R2D2 (look at his eye, folks). Verizon uses the prefix "Droid" to attach to every one of it's phones so that we can distinguish it from every other Android phone out there.
It's very similar to the same way T-Mobile uses the "myTouch" prefix before all it's phones. The myTouch Slide, the myTouch 3G, the myTouch 3G Fender edition.
All these phones have the operating system, Android invested in them but they are not in fact, "Droid" phones.
So if you ever meet anyone who's too ignorant to learn the difference, try to correct them. A kitten dies everytime someone gets it wrong.
