htc one m8 check deposit broken

I have accounts with multiple banks that have remote deposit features for checks, and all of them are broken on my HTC one M8. Anytime I try to deposit a check through any financial institution's app, the check deposit camera is too blurry and out of focus to take a readable photo of a check. Does anyone have a work around for this?

Check the camera's macro/micro focus settings? Is it set to auto-focus?

If your stock camera is set to auto-focus and not manual, you might try Google Camera or another camera app to rule out hardware or software issue.

Thanks for the responses everyone. In every bank's banking app it doesn't allow for control of the cameras settings when taking a photo of a check from inside the app. I tried downloading Google Camera and it did not help. After doing a google search for 'htc one m8 camera no working with bank' it appears this is not a localized hardware issue with just my phone as others are having similar issues.
