apparently i am new to posting in forums. i put the question into the subject line...whoops
is there ANY way for my texts to stay in the cloud even if i accidentally delete them from my phone??????
Once deleted it is gone. Unless you somehow synced messages beforehand and stopped syncing directly afterward and just before deleting.
dang! is there any way to get my older texts (say from yesterday) into the cloud or is it only going to sync from time i installed the app?
Do yourself a huge favor. Ditch the Cloud and use a different Cloud for backups. Use Google for contacts. As far as deleted Text Messages. Nothing you can do about old ones that are gone but you can use SMS Backup which will write the text messages to your gmail account and retain them, or SMS Backup and restore which you can manually backup the messages to and restore them to the phone if needed. The only downside to the second one is, you have to initiate the backup.
Verizon Messages will only sync messages from the point you installed the app on your phone.
fyi...
SMS Backup and Restore has a scheduling feature which will allow the backup to run automatically on a schedule.
so just to be clear, the SMS and Restore app will allow me to set it so
that the texts will get backed up into my gmail account? but the settings
need to be adjusted on the phone itself for for initial installation, but
after that i can program it to run automatically, say once a day...?

SMS Backup and Restore provides several ways to store the backup (including Google and e-mailing it to yourself), and you can set the backup schedule frequency based on minutes, hours, or days.
