I've been with Verizon wireless all of five days
I already feel like I've made a mistake
for me, reliability is the biggest deciding factor in choosing a celluar service
and I thought I chose Verizon wireless for the advertised "most reliable network in the nation"
perhaps the reliability isn't as strong as I believed on the human side
when I walked into a Verizon store on Monday May 11th to switch carrier to Verizon, the service representative ported a number over from a service I was not ready to terminate.
I lost two days of cellular availability on the phone number I use for personal and business purposes. I was told that it was not possible to reverse the action and I had to wait for the replacement phone to arrive in my hands to have my cellular phone availability back. That very same day in the evening I, also, found out that I was signed up on a different service plan from what I had selected. I contacted the service rep and asked to correct the error, but the rep responded only to acknowledge that there was a miscommunication and ceased responding thereafter.
up to this point, I chalked the hardship largely to the incompetent service rep.
On Friday May 15th, I called the porting service number to port over a temporary number (another line) with a number I was using with the previous carrier. I gave her all pertinent information:
number I have been using
temporary number I'm replacing
personal information
upon completing the call, I turned the temporary-numbered-line phone off and on as instructed.
immediately, I noticed the phone still had the temporary number and another phone on the same contracted lost service.
I did not see the correlation at first but minutes after I thought it might be worth checking into.
I called the porting service number back and notified them of what transpired.
I was told there was a mistake and my number was ported over with a new number while the temporary number was still intact.
Worst of all, I was told I may have lost my number altogether.
I was wringing my hands by then and held on for about 30 mins total.
Eventually, the numbers found correct lines and it was resolved.
Without apologies, the rep simply said he has worked there 7 years and these things happen all the time.
Verizon Wireless amazingly has destroyed my confidence in their reliability with only 5 days of service. What's worse, none of whom I talked to throughout the process stepped up to admit lapse in reliability and promised better results in the future. Sometimes simple words of apology and promise of correction go a long way.
At this point, Am I crazy for feeling totally left for dead?
