Lg g3 lollipop update is horrible

The wifi is worthless now! Every app that goes through the wifi now runs extremely slow. how long is it gonna be before tthe update for the G3 is fixed? How long will I have to deal with a substandard device? My phone worked excellent before this update. I've done everything that has been suggested to resolve the issue and none of it has worked. I know the problem is NOT my internet because all my other devices work just fine. I don't wanna hear anything about whose to blame, I just wanna know when it will be fixed. I am a new customer to Verizon and this is definitely not the way to keep a customer! The way I see it is at this point Verizon is to blame for letting a bad update get through to their customers. How does verizon plan on making this right?

To clarify my problem,and many others per the discussions I've seen on the forum, wifi says it is connected, but it is not working. Can't browse web, Facebook won't update or load, no notifications etc. With wifi turned off, everything works fine.

However, I have discovered that wifi works fine when in airplane mode. it continued working after I turned airplane mode off. This process of turning on airplane mode, wi if , then airplane mode off needs to repeated if you turn off or restart the phone.

I'm pleased that I have found a way to restore funtionality on my own and have shared with others who have also had success. Perhaps this info will be helpful with discovering what the actual problem is with the update is so it can be fixed

I am having similar issues. All connectivity seems to have been destroyed by the "update." I cannot maintain connection to receive email. This is a huge issues, since I depend on receiving and being able to respond to messages timely. Tried to upload to FaceBook on my device - also timed out unsuccessful. This needs to be undone!

Agreed! I am experiencing the same inconvenient issue regarding wifi connection. Very disappointed.

We definitely don't want you feeling disappointed. Let's bring back the love for your phone. Are you have an issues with your 3rd party apps running slow while connected to WiFi? Are they okay when running on cellular data? Please provide details of your concern so I may better assist.

Keep in mind that the device will take time to normalize, generally 2-3 days. Additionally, beyond that time period there may be situations where downloaded application developers do not immediately update their applications to support new versions of the new software. You want to make sure you check regularly for any new updates for your apps in the Google Play store.

Does not work for me. However I can access the web just fine with data and WiFi on. I just cannot connect to my POP3 email unless I turn off the WiFi. This is not just at home. This is anywhere anytime I have WiFi enabled, even when there is good WiFi connectivity.

I am as frustrated as anyone! Verizon, Comcast, LG all want to blame each other. I know it is the Lollipop update, because it has worked perfectly until then. SO if Android (Google) is at fault, it also should have been tested by LG and Verizon before releasing a defective update. Aside from the WiFi issue, I see no other benefit to the "upgrade". Does anyone see something that's better than kitkat? Also, Verizon stands to make money off of us that have to keep switching from WiFi to data just to get the emails to come in. My IMAP email comes in fine on Wifi, but the POP3 does not connect.

Well I gotta say, I called google, lg, and Verizon. Verizon was the only one who offered to make it right with no hassle at all! They are sending me another phone at no charge. They are also paying for all shipping charges for both phones.

My LG G3 never had any issues until the update. I use Google play music to listen to music in my truck. Now, it won't make it through a whole song before it gets all garbled. I've tried taking the battery out, uninstalling the Google play update, etc.....still having problems. One interesting thing I noticed was when I opened settings>app manager>all, it shows all the apps on my phone along with their install date. Every single app associated with Google now says it was installed 1/1/1970!!!!

So, after spending almost an hour on the phone with Verizon, and LG their fix is for me to send my phone in to be "flushed". So, I'm looking at being without a phone for 2 weeks at least. My question is this: why push an update to us without thoroughly beta-testing it to verify there are no compatibility issues?????!!!!

You might try this go into your Downloaded Apps enter each App and clear its cache, hold off clearing the Data and then Uninstall the App. you might want to uninstall the Latest Version of the Google Play Store once you done that then do a Power cycle and then go back and update the Apps you use the Most and the Play Store if you Uninstalled it back to the Factory Version on the Google Play Store when you Uninstall it you'll have to accept the terms when it ask then in will open up and in a Few minutes should re-update itself..

I would try this and if the Results are the same then I'd try running a Factory Reset.. B33

I am so sick of Verizon and other posters acting like this is some unknown, isolated incident.

Try doing a Google search and reading the responses. A VERY large number of people have taken the time to report this issue and that would tell me that thousands more have the problem, but haven't posted about it.

LG wanted me to send my phone in and wait over a week. That's a no go. Besides, a software bug won't be fixed by different hardware.

The verizon rep I talked with said it was a known issue and they were working on it. Meanwhile other posters are saying that verizon told them there was nothing being researched or that a move to 5.1 or 5.1.1 (which supposedly has the fix) is not coming anytime soon.

Also, to add insult to injury, I am burning through my data plan because wi-fi is useless!

My tinfoil hat mind thinks they did this on purpose.

At least publicly acknowledge the issue and tell us a fix is in the works instead of passing it off on something else.

I also believe verizon has done this on purpose. The popups to upgrade were ridiculous. I tried to ignore them because I did not want the upgrade in fear of this very reason. But after about a week of ignoring it, the pop ups became so frequent that I couldn't get anything done. Now, after the upgrade, my phone is so frustrating to use. I can't believe I'm paying such a high bill for a phone that doesn't work when I need it too. Wh would they do th

I too am having the same issues even after doing the recommended factory reset. I have been a Verizon customer for just over 2 months and was so happy to finally be done with Sprint and have a reliable cellular service. Well...since this update...I have nothing but problems.

I have had to bump my data plan up too which is costing me more money because of these issues. I am extremely troubled by this. I am typically able to be on a Wi-Fi signal. However, this is no longer an option for me as I receive no email and most of the time internet does not work.

I feel like I am with Sprint all over again. I just can't believe an update as this would be allowed to go live. I just wish I could reverse the update and go back to having the reliable phone I had only a few weeks ago....

Verizon reps...please fix this and help me! New customer and this is not the way to start...

I, too was unable to access my pop3 email via wifi. After looking at every forum out there, someone posted a very helpful link which is NOT a permanent fix, but solved my issue for now so at least my email comes in over wifi and I don’t have to get it via mobile data and use up my data plan. The app can be gotten at the Play Store and is called DNSet. Don’t know exactly how it works, but for me, it has made Lollipop usable, as it bypasses Comcast and IPV6 conflict. This is the helpful link posted earlier by Rushfan2112: Comcast's wireless gateways don't play nice with Android 5.0 Lollipop, but Google's on the case <http://phandroid.com/2015/05/13/comcast-wireless-gateway-lollipop-bug/> orked awesomely for me! ** FACTORY RESET DOESN'T HELP**

I want to add to this chorus. It's definitely Lollipop. I got my device without Lollipop 3 weeks ago. It worked fine, and then as soon as I upgraded 2 weeks ago, *EVERYTHING* was impacted:

the device gets HOT to the touch. I'm no stranger to mobile devices and the heat from this device after just a few minutes of use is beyond anything I've experienced.
battery life (especially for a brand new phone) is shockingly bad--but not surprising given the above and the fact that apps keep restarting
wireless connectivity drops and I have to restart to get it back
app latency is abysmal... all apps show latency within the app and between them
Phone audio misbehaves if I switch from speaker to device
Certain apps are completely un-usable from this device (weather app)

I have tried a number of things, including doing a clearing cache, doing a factory reset, and just deleting weather.com app altogether. I have never had issues with my droid razr maxx and have the exact same apps.

At present, even to make the phone work passably, I have to open Clean Sweet about 3-4x a day and turn off background processes. I really hate this phone. And, I am 100% positive that this is due to Lollipop.

When will Verizon issue an update? Where can we find out about this. I'm thinking I'll just switch back to my Droid. It's too late for me to return this phone (which I bought explicitly because my Droid didn't have enough storage).

Yes, Comcast wireless gateways have an issue with phones on Lollipop. Comcast and Google are reportedly working on a fix.

Same issues here with my LG G2, hot, battery life, sounds not working etc etc.... Horrible lollipop update and after 3 factory resets and 1 safe mode and talking to Verizon then LG then back to Verizon they finally agreed to send me a new phone.Reps at 2 different Verizon stores ( 1 a company store and 1 a reseller) agreed that everything is horrible after receiving Lollipop. I received my new phone and it has 4.4.2 on it and it's staying that way until they get Lollipop fixed. It asks me to update everyday and I just put it off to the next day and so far so good. And what is amazing is that everything works as it should. Maybe Verizon reps and their apologists that post on here should be working with whoever rolled this god awful product out and get it fixed instead of asking us (that pay your salary) to try this or try that when you know well and good it is a horrible, horrible update.
