eris users . keyboard to display on screen

at times, and in certain phone and notes applications, i need to type but the keyboard is not displayed. usually i can tap the screen and it will appear, but tapping creats a change that i must undo. is there a quick way to get the keyboard display on the screen?? thanks

Press and hold the Menu button to bring up the keyboard regardless of what screen or app you're on.
