I'm frustrated. I am a long time customer who always pays on time. I have 5 months left on my contract and I would like to upgrade to an iphone 6. I currently have an iphone 5c. I remember when the new iphones came out there was a deal going on that you could upgrade early, but I missed it. I am eligible for upgrading to Verizon Edge. The only thing I don't like about that is I would have to turn in my current phone and get nothing back for it. I can sell my current phone for at least $250.00. I IMed customer service because I was wondering if I could pay off my contract early (since there is only 5 months left) so that I could keep my phone and still upgrade early. She said no, that I would either have to wait until my contract runs out or pay $299 for not turning my phone back in. I realize that is the around the cost of the early termination fee but they used to be pro-rated so that the closer you got to the end of the contract the less you had to pay. She kept telling me I was getting value for my phone when I return it for an early upgrade. It's 5 months. I can keep my perfectly usable phone for 5 months and then when my contract is done switch companies. I don't usually ask for things like this and I probably wouldn't have even thought to ask if there wasn't a deal going on back in early January where you could upgrade, but I find it rather frustrating that Verizon offers no discounts or really anything to keep their customers. I've never called and asked for something like this and it kind of floors me that they don't have some kind of customer retention plan in place. I guess years of working customer service I would have expected more! :smileysad:
Has anyone else had any better luck?
