Data recovery samsung s4

i have a samsung s4 that the screen is broken, (stays black and unresponsive) i can tell the phone is still working do to msg indicator still lighting up and notifications going off. My question is, is there a way to conect my broken phone to my computer and retrieve data that didnt gett backed up before it broke?

Yes, make sure you have the Samsung drivers from their support site and plug the phone into a PC. PC should ask "what do you want to do when this device is connected?" You should be able to open the phones memory just like you open a flash drive in My Computer as a lettered drive.
