Why won't my s6 edge allow me to apply a system update?

What happens when you try to update?
The phone shuts off and goes to a black screen that says things like system reboot, system update from cache. things like that and to use the volume key to move up and down and the power key to select
When the phone turns back on it tells me software update failed
How are you trying to do a system update? Have you tried turning your phone on without holding down the power and volume key and then go into Settings>System update? Or you trying to manually install it because your phone is rooted?
I got a notification saying my phone had a system update so the first time I clicked on that and the second time I tried the setting>system update and same thing happens both times
The update went through thank you for your help
