Contacted Verizon Wireless to move a 2nd line from my partners account to my own prepaid account so that I could get a new MOTO E 4GLTE phone. Verizon Wireless said I had to establish an account first under prepaid and then the prepaid department can get me the phone I want. After working with Verizon Wireless they transferred me to someone in Prepaid to finish setting things up, but they could not order the phone. They said I would have to do it online or visit a Verizon store?....... So, I went online to do the order and was still a little confused, so I decided to contact the prepaid group to make sure I was doing the right steps. I called the tool free# and no matter what I tried, could not get to a live person to help me. So I opted for the live chat service on the Verizon Prepaid website. The representatives were helpful and I chatted with Leslie who walked me through the process.
She specifically stated that I would just need to call back after I get the new phone activated with a new# and they would transfer my number and balance over to the new phone. I was happy about the process because it was already costing me for two accounts and the free activation on the new MOTO E I purchased offset what I was having to pay. Fast forward to today........ I received the phone, activated it and contacted Prepaid to do what Leslie stated.... What happened next was very disappointing and to be honest, shocking.....................
Contacted Verizon Prepaid and basically they stated the following:
If I want to move my number from one account to the new Moto E phone:
- Would lose all the airtime minutes from the other phone $45
- Have to pay another $45 immediately on the Moto E Phone because of the new number
- Lose the existing minutes on the new Moto E Phone (minutes go away with the old phone number) $45
Sales in their earnest to encourage the sale of the Moto E failed to mention that I would lose $90 to keep my Verizon Wireless telephone number.....The representative gave the following remedy:
"Sorry that sales (Leslie) misinformed you. Would suggest you hold on to both phones until the end of the month when the minutes run out on your new phone and then you can transfer the number from your other phone. That way you only pay $45 for the new month with the number you want".... In other words, you still lose $90... I DON"T NEED TWO PHONES WITH TWO NUMBERS..... But, I have no choice in the matter. I wonder how much it costs for call forwarding to send my old number to the new number.................. I am sure that will be another charge..... Really disappointing... I will stay with Verizon because quite honestly, Verizon does have the best mobile signal. But this experience with sales and support reduces my "FAN FACTOR" for Verizon................... Dissatisfied but not Derailed................
