Verizon Cell service down in Borrego Springs, 92004 for the last 15 or more hours.

My small community uses a facebook page to communicate with when these unexplained outages occur. Messages began being posted at 8am. " Anybody having cell phone problems with Verizon?", then, the rest of us join in and compare notes. When I went to bed last night it had been 12 hours of NO cell phone calls coming in OR going out. This was true for MOST of all of the Verizon customers who live in Borrego. What is going on ? Why have we not been contacted and offered an intelligent explanation ? This has happened before. Apparently Borrego is considered a "marginal" coverage region now. We , as customers, should be offered a way out of our contracts if this is not remedied.

Have any of them posted that they are on other carriers? At&t, T-mobile etc? Based on the map it looks like a very poor coverage area and I assume it always has been. A lot of it is Extended which means you're connecting to other carriers towers. It may not be Verizon that is down and why you aren't getting a clear explanation of what's happening.

Your contracts will be up before any new towers get built unless they have already been in the works for a number of months. It's just not that simple to get permission to build.

A long shot would be a network extender, however you'd need a good Wi-Fi connection which you may not get out that way. Verizon will often give a discount on their network extender -$75, and I've heard where they will give them out for free at times. To me it seems like you have a strong enough case to warrant getting free ones. I understand your goal is information, but perhaps you should think about sweet talking your way into a network extender.
