Does anyone in California get full service? (all bars and 4 G service)

I drive a truck, delivering product from Arcata,CA in the north to Lake Elsinore,CA in the south. I have the phone mounted on the dash so I can see when the company sends me texts of my next pick up or delivery. I drive highway 101 to San Francisco then jump over to I-5 via hwy 580. I have yet to have full service anywhere. Most of the time it's just 2 bars. The company has called several times but the system doesn't hold it and drops the call. Beginning to think I spent all that money on a system that doesn't work.

Depending on your phone, (which do you have?) if Advanced Calling IS enabled on your phone, you might try disabling that feature for now since it is blamed for many missed and dropped calls, especially for users who are on the road a lot and come in and go out of coverage areas a lot.

Unless you're stationary under a tower you're never going to get full bars all the time. Do you know how wireless service even works? You get a signal from tower since you are moving the distance to that tower is constantly increasing or decreasing. When if pass a tower and there is another near by you'll eventually latch onto that one. Just being in motion is going to affect your signal even if you were somehow always the same distance from the tower let alone moving away form it. Also you're in a truck which is made of metal. That kind of blocks cell signals. A phone on the dash won't do anything if the signal is not coming form in front of you. 2 bars is plenty fine for phone calls. By the way unless you're using VoLTE( which is unlikely seeing how new it is ) 4G is not used for calls. You calls would be coming over 1x. And actually you're texts would be over 1x also unless they are MMS. It seems you think cell service work by magic.

I know how cell service works, it works the same as 2 meter ham radio service. You have to have antennas in the area which have repeaters on them with your signals. I'm NOT an idiot. I'm 55 years old and have been using a cell phone for quite some time. The problem I have is the company I work for made me upgrade to a smart phone which sends and receive text message from their computer. I had a trac phone from Walmart for the past 15 years and had no problem getting and receiving phone calls from anywhere I delivered. Whether I was in the hills of Northern California or the flat lands of Utah, calls always came through. I could not use that phone with this company because my company could not send text message to me.

Another thing, my brother has AT&T and he has four bars all the time and I've seen it. He has much better service than I have. If AT&T hadn't screwed me with a contract from 4 years ago, then I would have went with them.
