stop synced messages

Verizon sent me a message letting me know that now my tablet was sync to my phone as far as messages go as. I would really like to be able to turn this off. I don't use my tablet that much and everytime I try it on it wants to give me 2 or 3 hundred messages. Can someone tell me please how to stop this synchronization? I have a Motorola Droid Maxx phone.

If you want to use the messaging app in conjunction with your phone's messaging, it is an all or nothing proposition. You either sync ALL messages or NO messages. There is not an option to only "send" messages and receive only the ones you would like to receive. The tablet can't tell which ones you want to receive and which ones you don't want to receive. It either receives messages or it doesn't and if you activate it to "send" messages it will also receive them. Simply use your phone for your messages if you do not want to have the tablet receiving them.

You could also have your tablet set to run the app in the background. I have never picked up my tablet, turned on the messaging app and had it "sync" hundreds of messages for 10-15 minutes. They are already on it when I pick it up. The messages are downloaded/synced as they come in, not only when I am using the tablet.

Simply delete the app from your tablet. If you don't want to use it for your messages, there is no reason to have the app on your device.:smileyhappy:

Perhaps you could uninstall the Verizon Messages from the tablet? Why did you sync it in the first place if you don't want to have access to your text messages on the tablet?

Delete the messaging app? because I would like to be able to send and receive messages when I'm using the tablet, but I don't want it picking up the five hundred and something odd messages received on my phone since I last used the tablet. When I turn the tablet on, it spends 10 or 15 minutes downloading everything, even messages that have been long ago deleted off of my phone. And please bear with me on this. I need a messaging for Dummies book.

I can see it taking 10 minutes to sync after booting up the tablet as the OP indicated in their latest post.

It is similar to what occurs on one of my devices when I pick it up after several days. The email from one account takes several minutes to fully sync.

I concur with Rcschnoor - I have the Messages app on my tablet, but I rarely shut down the tablet completely - it's in use off and on every day, so the messages stay synced with the app running in the background.

Since both the tablet and the phone are using the same number for texting, they would have to be in sync. I like having all the messages, whether sent from the phone or the tablet, available on both devices.
