My Samsung Stratosphere can send and receive calls but the microphone only works when the speaker does not.

I have a Samsung Stratosphere. About two days ago people I called stopped being able to hear my voice. When people called me I could not hear their voice. I experimented using another phone and discovered that my microphone only works when my speakerphone is turned OFF and I can only hear when my speakerphone is ON. Obviously this creates a problem when trying to talk to someone. I should note that the Bluetooth in my car still works for calls. I looked for settings and applications that might be causing this and found none. I did a factory reset and it changed nothing. What might be causing this / what should I try next?

This most definitely can cause a concern when trying to call people. I certainly do apologize to hear that your microphone isn't working. You've done a lot of the troubleshooting steps that we would recommend, so thank you. When did this start happening? How long have you had the device? Do you have anything blocking the microphone? A new case, a new screen protector, etc?
