Another ERIS 2.1 rumor, just for the fun of it

now i dont particularly want to stir the waters too much, but i have read on another site that rumors of the OTA ERIS update starting in the same fashion as the Moto Droid did starting on the 13th of April. Anyone else hear or see anything along those lines? sorry if this has already been covered, im trying to be patient just curious what others have heard...

IDK, I read somewhere there's a "webinar" starting tomorrow on how to upgrade to 2.1 or something? I couldn't find anything on here about that though, and they've been promising it forever, so I'm pretty pessimistic. Here's hoping though....

I just want the update to happen so I can have my Navigator back. I mean, my Samsung Gleam did that, and I bought it in early 2008.

I know what your saying, i had the Blackberry storm, i travel all over the country for my job, so the bulk of the Moto droid didnt attract me, but the promise of the update made me go for the ERIS. So far with the exception of the navigator (which is becoming more annoying as time passes) i really like the phone, it is very stable for me and works well, i just need the navigator so i can stop missing turns and getting lost in some other city!!!..lol

I Just got off the phone with Tech Spport at Verizon & he said that The Eris WILL be getting Andriod 2.1. He Informed me that they are going to start the rolling updates over the air very soon and by the end of April every Eris will have 2.1 on their phones and still have the Sense UI that the Eris has on it. He also said to just watch the phone for the update prompt cause it is comming very soon.

So looks like within the next few weeks us Eris owners will be jumping for joy finalyl!

Belive me if you want or not but this came from Tech Support and I'm just passing the good word on to very eager Eris owners for this long awaited news. If you want to hear it your self call Customer Service at 1-800-922-0204 and navigate to Tech Support and ask them.

Yeah, looks like the "sooner rather than later" speculation is ramping up. I'm not a rumor mill person, but I would not be surprised if we start to see some 2.1's roll out pretty soon!

Yeah, I went ahead and called. The lady from VZW Tech Support said she had just talked to HTC on Friday for another person. She said that the HTC rep stated something about they still have a couple bugs to work out (one about not being able to empty the trash folder from gmail), and a couple other ones. She said it would be very soon after that when we'll start recieving update notifications.

Well i do hope it is soon...but i think like most other ERIS owners, im not going to hold my breath waiting....

Have you looked on Androidforums.com? I have been on Androidforums.com since last December and if you know about it then great! If not check it out because anything to do with Android is up to the minute. Most of the posters and especially the mods are loaded with inside info trying to weed out the truth. There are so many rumors about the 2.1 update that it's insane. I've been waiting since I got mine in Nov 2009...

Nope, I didn't receive no update. I have a feeling we wont till the end of April, or may even I have no clue **bleep** Verizon, HTC, or Google is doing now, its **bleep** me off I must say though.

i believe that today would be the 1,000 if it happens, then tomorrow the 10,000 and then a cool off day then to the masses on friday...IF IT HAPPENS....again no breath holding here...

@ Bill...yeah i know the 2.1 hacked version is out there, im trying to give Big Red one more chance before i hack up to 2.1, i would prefer the OTA version to keep warranty, but at the same time i really need navigation something fierce...

Plenty of people have done it on AndroidForums.com, but I'm not about to try it and potentially ruin my cell phone.

Seriously Verizon, you've done nothing but pimp the Droid for months. Cut Eris users some slack.

I understand if they may be starting to Phase out the ERIS as other rumors have implied, but still do the upgrade and make people aware that it will be the final upgrade. I brought the phone on the premise of the navigation being available, this was confirmed by a sales guy ( i know i know..not that reliable), but then the store manager also confirmed that the upgrade was coming in Jan (i would hope this is a little more reliable), we then get the word from some upper up that it was going to happen in Q1....yet we still have nothing...i am so frustrated, i know now to not believe a thing im told by Verizon and that is really disappointing that we have deceptive sales tactics....it wasn't called for, i was going to get a new phone, but i really need the navigation, i have another trip next week and again no navigation so im stuck trying to use the half assed version of navigation that the current version has. I dont like the idea of using the hacked version, but what am i left to do? wait until the end of April and then be disappointed that Verizon has not fulfilled our hopes again??? I dont like the bulk of the Moto Droid, but i would happily trade the size for the functionality right now....but hey Verizon says there is nothing they can do because of the contract....

yeah im very seriously considering the early out option on the contract, sure it will cost some money....but is it worth it? is the grass greener on the other side? at least i know what im getting with an iphone....what do you do? i just want to work with a company i can trust...right now i am quickly, very quickly loosing faith in Verizon....i admit nothing is ever going to be perfect, i just want someone to trust....

Would you be happier if they released a version that was buggy? Software development cycles often do miss target dates. It happens. Relax. Eris is getting 2.1

The version of 2.1 floating out there for the Eris **IS NOT** a hacked version but a leaked pre-release version. Its has its quirks, but it has been running fine on my Eris for about a month now.
