I am receiving sms but cannot send them. I can send mms. I have done research and I know I have to set my smsc number. I have a verizon galaxy s4 sch-i545 running lollipop 5.0.1.
Thanks for the info maxkittens. Let's get your sms working properly. May I ask what Zip code are you in? Also, how much avaialble device memory do you have? Can I assyne that you are using the stock messaging app on your Galaxy S4 or are you using a 3rd party app? I would suggest deleting some info on your device to make more storage space available, reboot, and retest. Please keep us posted with the results.

I live in san dimas (91773) device memory: 9.71 gb 1.46 free, sd: 8.81gb 29.7. I am using the default messaging app. There is nothing to delete since I just received the phone. However I am able to send sms when I am on "hspa" data

Thanks for the info maxkittens. Let's look into this deeper. Mat I ask what's the exact software, kernel, and build version that you have installed on your S4? Is this a device that you purchased directly from us? Were you ever able to send and receive sms and mms without any issues?

I am able to send sms when on an hspa or lower signal
Thanks for replying do you get an error message when you attempt to send a Text message? Can you make and receive phone calls? Do you have a Sim card in the device?

Yes I do get it an error message when i attempt to send an sms it reads "Message failed. Would you like to retry?" and when you click reply it gives you the same thing. Yes I can make and receive calls. However in the call when I click a number on the keypad it does not register. I says that I pressed it on my end but the other end doesn't receive it. Yes i currently have a fully operational sim card with 4g lte capabilities that I have tested on other android phones. And I need to have my phone fixed by July 15 in time for my vacation.
