My LG G3 battery life sucks since OS upgrade last week. What can I do??

I use to leave my house at 100%, go 4 hours at work not using phone and battery would still be at 92%. Since the software upgrade recently, battery life has diminished drastically. Under the same circumstances, my battery now goes down to less than 30%. What can I do to mitigate this?

Most will suggest a back up and full factory reset.

I am experiencing the same problem with my G3 after updating to lollipop. I used to get ~14 hrs of normal use, now I get 5 hrs.

Updates are meant to improve your device CJR721. I am sorry to learn of the difficulties you are experiencing with the battery life. When did you update the software on your phone? At times, it may take a few days after updating your phone for your battery life to normalize. Do you have a lot of third party apps installed on your phone?

I have same problems. Same Phone setup and apps as before. Battery has gone down 6% in the time it took to login to Verizon and type this message.

Yes I am having the same problem with the battery after update as well as everything lagging, I use to really enjoy this phone but because of this update it just plain sucks, I thought an update was suppose to make it better not worse why won't Verizon allow us the option to go back to kit Kat that worked great, so I can enjoy my phone again?

Same problem here. A fully charged phone won't last 1 day. I don't even use it much. And the phone heats up just sitting in my pocket. I am ditching them if Verizon doesn't do something soon.

Same issue here. Tried to factory reset, clear cache, blah, blah, blah. After factory reset with no apps - still same issue. Phone worked fine before update, not after the update, nothing else changed. Too bad, was a great phone, now it's garbage. Without a fix soon, Verizon will be buying me a new phone (not some factory refurbished replacement garbage).

Verizon Support: Do you even read the question? It clearly says in the title of the post "LAST WEEK". This is what frustrates us the most, no communication, just a bunch of clown questions

I am sorry to learn of the difficulties caused by the recent update bradj2001. Let's get to the bottom of your equipment concerns. When did you update the software on your phone? After updating the software on your phone, it may take a couple days for the battery on the phone to stabilize. Do you also have a lot of third party apps installed on your phone?

I am having the same problem with my LG G2. Since last week's "upgrade" my battery life and performance are cut in half. It has nothing to do with how many apps are installed.

Same thing with my LG. Everytime I go to use it it's dead. I figure it's lasting about 5 ~ 6 hours WITHOUT ME USING IT & it's dead. I'd say I'm glad to hear I'm not the only one with this problem, but there is nothing to smile about here. Not to mention the way the phone looks. I liked it better before, why the change? What's the benefit? It's impossible to even poke around in it to "see" the diffence when the batter dies out so fast. I have 1 year left on the contract with this phone & if there isn't a solution soon I will start to look for another company. If I can find one that will buy me out of my contract I'll jump on it. I will keep tabs on comments ~ solution suggestions (via computer & different internet supplier) & hope for the best. Good luck to all who are as frustated as I am.

Getting the most out of your battery is definitely important. Have you tested the battery life while in Safe Mode http://www.verizonwireless.com/support/knowledge-base-112843/? Many times the battery usage you've described can be a result of some of the 3rd party applications you use not being updated to work properly with Lollipop, causing the phone to work twice as hard to run them (even in the background when you're not using them).

Have you checked to see what's using the battery the most? Battery Usage information under Settings > Battery > Battery Usage (which applications are using most of the battery life, usage since last charge, etc).

Update, got some "try this" from Verizon. Check battery usage in safe mode etc... Biggest battery hog is Android System, not second party app. I watched the battery % drop about 1 ~ 1.5% per min while checking.I have to set the battery saver on Immediately and turn off Wi-Fi & Data just to get it to last long enough to get me thru most of the day AND THAT'S WITHOUT USING IT. Saturday I was talking to a friend and the call kept getting dropped, don't know if it was my phone, her phone or a combo. So give up talking & go to text. She sent me two texts at about 12:45, one popped in at 1:30 and the other at 5:30 WOW. I've come to the conclusion after my issues & reading about everyone else's that I'm stuck with this crap for another year & then it's find another carrier & phone/operating system. All co-workers & friends who have an iphone swear by them but I just read someone's blog that an upgrade to theirs is resulting in the same thing. These operating systems better get a hot-fix out toot sweet.

I remember a commercial many years ago for Discount Tire Service where they advertized that if you weren't happy with their tires to bring them back ... anyway you like. Where the amperstands are they show an old women heave a tire right thru their window. That ad got pulled so fast, I'm guessing they had some unhappy customers. Well Android better not advertise anything similar.
