Two years ago, I left Verizon after about 7-8 years of being loyal customer. I left due to the monthly cost of service, paying over $100 month for "just me". I went to another carrier and was very unhappy with their service. I quickly returned to Verizon, purchasing an IPhone and two year contract. At that time, I think I was paying about $100 month for single line, but shortly after, Verizon did begin the new single line rates of $60.00. Sometimes it still seems it is an awfully lot of money for my usage, which averages less that 500 minutes per month, 400 text and less that half GB data.
As my contract end date nears, I have been mulling over my options, even looking at Verizon prepaid plan, which is $45 a month for the same services I am paying $60 for. I have found a prepaid plan that will suit my needs, and with my average usage, the cost will be less than $25 a month. Great savings for me. Bonus, the smart phone I selected allows me to stay on the Verizon network, which I will agree is the best.
As I am porting my number, I have to wait to activate new service. Since it is only a month away, on a whim I decided to ask Verizon what I would pay to end today (thinking it would be just one month service fee). NO - it is $130 line fee PLUS 1 month service cost - nearly $200. And that is exactly why I am leaving Verizon. This time I won't be returning.
