Help! data allowance overage, need to stop it!

How can I make sure that after my son hits his 2GB of data, he doesn't go over it? I can't afford any extra charges but when after he hits 2GB it doesn't stop, it just let's him keep using it & I need to make sure that he can't cause I can't afford any kind of extra charges, so it has to be free. Please help....

FamilyBase allows you to set a hard limit on the amout of data that can be used by an individual line. It is free for the first month, and then $5 a month for your entire account after that. Just make sure that when you set it up, that you make sure to check the box on the page that enter the data allowance on to "restrict usage" after the allowance is reached. Otherwise it will simple send you an alert, and not completely cut off the usage. I would recommend setting the allowance at least 500mb or so below his allowance, as there can be a slight delay between when the data is actually used and when it is taken from your allowance, and this will give a buffer to make sure it cuts off the data early enough to prevent any overage charges.

In that case, as long as he has the current Android version installed, you can set a limit through the phone itself, by using the "Limit Mobile Data Usage" option in the settings. While it is a free option, it is a little more complicated to set up, as you have to sync the dates for the usage period with you Verizon bill cycle dates. That method no longer works with Lollipop, so when the phone is upgraded to that OS version, Family Base might be the only option, but IDK if that even works because apps no longer have the ability to turn off mobile data, not even the stock Data Usage monitor can turn off data, only display a screen alert.
