Bluetooth and Wi-fi issues after G3 update to Lollipop

I am having issues with choppy streaming bluetooth audio and no wi-fi connection on certain hotspots after updating OTA on my LG G3. I had absolutely NO issues prior to updating. I have read in a few other forums that this is an android runtime error with the Lollipop version, and it is fixed in a European update (v20h), but not in the US version yet. Anybody else having this issue?

It will still eventually auto-update. Take this replacement and charge to 100% before you even do anything else. Activate it and then wipe it to factory defaults. THEN take the update while charging at 100%. Then, yeah...factory wipe it again and then set it up.

I am having the same issues with bluetooth streaming. I have also found the information regarding the newer update. Im hoping Verizon is onto this. I got a bluetooth stereo in car for the reason to wirelessly stream music and now i cant do that without getting urge to throw my phone out the window

I have the same problem. The one thing I use my phone for most of the day no longer works - bluetooth audio streaming. It begins to stutter roughly 30 seconds after initially playing and it's impossible to listen to music. We wait til last in line to get the Lollipop update just to deal with this crap.

My LG G3 was updated today to Lollipop 5.0.1 and also having bluetooth connectivity issues. I had the same experience with a droid phone a year ago with a Kit Kat upgrade. Verizon/Google did nothing to help resolve the issue. Now I am paying monthly for an upgraded phone and now have the same issue with this update. I would like to file a class action lawsuit. Tired of having expensive products not function as they are supposed to.

I also updated to Lollipop 5.0.1 this morning and have the same issue of Bluetooth being choppy. I'm not sure what to do here.

Why would they even release a buggy version? The original version was perfect, now I have a broken phone....

Update: After spending nearly two hours on the phone with Verizon tech support; I was able to convince them I truly was having Bluetooth connectivity issues. Tried all the options: Factory reset, settings reset, powering on in Safe Mode. None of this worked and in fact made things worse. I will be getting a new phone replacement at 0 costs in the mail tomorrow. Lets hope the replacement does the trick and NO MORE SYSTEM UPDATES please. Seriously thinking this will be my last Android phone.

That's crazy the steps you have to take. Just wish the phone would not auto-update. May I ask, how you came to recommend these actions? I'm afraid taking the update will mess up the blue tooth functionality. Maybe I'll get lucky and the replacement phone will have lollipop already installed and have working blue tooth .. I doubt it. One can only wish.

I am having a similar issue. After the update, I am having issues with certain apps working when connected to WiFi. Specifically, FaceBook is not loading...I get "Error loading News Feed". I have uninstalled the FB app, rebooted the phone, reinstalled the app, cleared the app cache and data, rebooted the phone, and reset the router at home. App data still will not load. It happens on all WiFi networks I've connected to (at work and in a public place). If I turn WiFi off and connect via mobile data, it works. Also, if I turn on Airplane Mode and WiFi, it appears to work correctly. But as soon as I turn Airplane Mode off, the WiFi issues return.

Verizon, what other steps do you recommend?

So far I have tried restarting the car stereo system, un-linking bluetooth on the phone and re-linking with no luck. The audio begins to stutter after 30 to 60 seconds into play. What are some troubleshooting steps to take in this case?

I am having the same Facebook issues over Wifi. I have to use data to view. Also, videos stutter. My phone that ran perfectly before is horrible now!!

Same Wi-Fi issues. Downloaded the new update on Tuesday and have not received email since. Won't connect to the server to update email, says the "server is temporarily unavailable, try again later." Have to turn off the wi-fi to get it to work. Really disappointing, hope Verizon listens and fixes these issues!

I posted a reply on another similar note here but I thought I would add my two cents. I have talked with Verizon support three time now. Most Google apps no longer work on wifi along with a number of other apps. This was caused by the Lollipop upgrade. The last Verizon support person said that it's not Verizon's fault and that they only guarantee that cellular data connectivity works on Android phones. I really feel silly about buying the G3 now and paying on it for two years under the Edge program. I did ask if I could get another phone and was told that I would have to pay $149 to Edge up. Not a good deal if you ask me.

Verizon Wireless Customer Support

I did a factory reset on my phone over the weekend and am still unable to connect to FB via WiFi. It appears I am not alone in this. What other steps do you recommend to fix this issue?

I too, am having the same bluetooth stutter with my Pioneer radio in my car. I've done factory reset, bluetooth forget and reconnect, clearing the cache on both phone and radio. The only thing that fixed the problem was restoring back to kit kat. Lollipop is the issue and hopefully 5.1 will fix this bug. The only problem is that Verizon wont release 5.1 until xmas at their current pace of releases.

Not only is there no ETA on the fix for lollipop. But Verizon won't do anything about it. via a CS Manager, basically you get to suck it up. Cross your fingers and hope Samsung decides to release 5.1 before your contract ends.

You cannot get out of your contract because a phone they sold you in unusable.

You cannot get a different replacement phone, because Samsung hasn't said it's a big enough deal to warrant that.

You cannot get your bill put on hold and put your phone in the corner, while they get the fix.

Essentially Verizon wants it's money period, it doesn't matter the lump of crap they sold you.

Anyone know if sprint is still buying out Verizon contracts?

Yep, as I stated in another post...Verizon does not care nor does LG care for its customers. The issues being reported here are known issues that were reported on several other devices well before the LG G3 got the update. Meaning if Verizon or LG did just 5 seconds of research they would have seen they needed to wait for 5.1. But, they do not care and only want our money. I am also in the market for a new carrier and I am thinking about jumping ship from Android all together.

I recommend you do not do the update. Many issues that remain unresolved.

Reverting back to 4.4.2 was the only way to fix the bluetooth stutter for me. Wonder how much these Verizon reps get paid to simply keep tossing the "troubleshooting guide" at advanced users.

I was under the impression that Verizon was going through rigorous testing of the 5.0 update by how long it was taking to release it. That was not the case however.

Yes, the only way to fix the bluetooth stutter is to revert back to 4.4.2. Sadly, my battery life thus far has improved and the UI is much faster on 5.0. Luckily i don't have any wifi issues aside from not getting some notifications over wifi and I don't have any slow charging or battery drain issues. So I'm having an auxiliary cord installed to deal with the stutter. This is a huge inconvenience though since i have to remove the after market radio and install it in the back and route it through my glove box.

Interesting enough, the bluetooth stutter only occurs in my car and not through my bluetooth headphones.

With the wifi problem, it's kinda sad that I have to turn off wifi at home and use 4G to access the internet. I have to pay more attention of data usage!

I'm in the same boat. I use Wifi at home to connect with family that is serving overseas that cannot text or call. We skype and messenger.

Now I can't do that without data on, which we obviously can't leave on all day to wait for a reply.

Very disheartening. Hope everyone's gets fixed very soon.

What really gets me is when you go into your local store. They want to play dumb and blame it on Google and everyone else. While this can be seen as an Android update. Regardless it is their service and product i pay for. Then when you start to show that you are actually knowledgeable and know what your talking about they start blaming it on you or your equipment. Nothing is their fault. I have been with Verizon for almost 15 years and it seems they are becoming more and more less customer satisfaction oriented. Whenever I go into the stores I feel more like I am walking into a car dealership. Throw all the numbers at you. Edge up. Edge up. Pay for a phone just to return it almost two years so you can get a new one. I really was just going to the store to find out if they had any info on a fix. Or at the very least offer to flash my phone back to 4.4.2. When the issues did not exist. But alas neither happened. I know its not a hardware issue. But really telling a long time loyal paying customer to suck it up and wait till the fix comes out.

Yesterday, my G3 seems to be back to normal when using wifi at home! I haven't received any notice from Verizon nor LG of any fixes. Perhaps they fixed the problem(s) without notifying the users. Hope all of you have the problems resolved!

Hi Mkwan. Just out of curiosity. Do you remember what was the last thing you tried with your phone before getting wifi back?

I've restarted the phone about 3 or 4 days ago. Didn't have any improvement

after restarting. The Wifi just suddenly working yesterday.

Since updating my LG3 to Lollipop I have spent hours with Verizon technical support attempting to resolve Bluetooth issues to no avail.I am experiencing cutting out (choppiness) when streaming music through Google Play and Pandora, making them unusable. I have tried Safe mode, hard factory reset, phone replacement, clearing (and re-clearing) caches, un-pairing and re-pairing, etc. Verizon has been unable to correct the issue other than indicating a patch should be forthcoming, when (?) nobody knows.

How can a companies the size of Verizon and Google release the update without thoroughly testing it, this is the biggest fiasco since New Coke!

My wife have the Samsung S5, it keep asking to upgrade the software

everyday. I told her keep cancelling the update until the problems are

fixed. It kinda pain but that's only way I known so far. The wifi problem

on my G3 still come and goes. Some days good, some days bad :smileysad:

Well, I have tried factory resets, and all other methods of trying to fix this I have found, and I have concluded that nothing is going to correct this issue, short of an update.

Hopefully we get one soon because this is is extremely frustrating.

For the record - I am a programming project coordinator for a software company, so I do have a bit more advanced knowledge than the average user. From all indications, this is an inherent programming defect in the Android OS version.
