My credit score is less than "ideal". Do I have to pay both a service deposit as well as a down payment on an Edge device? Or do I get the phone at $0 down and just have to pay a deposit?
dusty129,Let me help clarify. While there may be a security deposit required to open a new postpaid account there would also be a down payment required for using the Edge program. This is standard when using Edge as you would make a small down payment, which is usually the first months installment. However, if not using Edge and simply entering into a a 2 year contract to purchase a device, no down payment would be required. AdamG_VZWFollow us on Twitter @VZWSupport
Hi there, dusty129! Thanks for asking about starting new service with us. Yes, there may be a security deposit requirement for any new postpaid account. Our billing system determines that requirement at the time processing a new service application. DionM_VZW Follow us on Twitter www.twitter.com/vzwsupport
Dion_VZW, Thank you for the response. Just so I am clear...There is only a security deposit (which could vary depending on my credit score) on a new Edge activation, but there is NO down payment required on the device?
Is the first month installment (up front) the maximum down payment I could be required to pay? Just want to get a real picture of my out of pocket expenses at activation before I go through the credit check (since it will hit my credit score).
Is there a reason why you aren't considering prepaid?
