Unauthorized actions have been detected message

Just got a replacement Galaxy S6 Edge (original screen cracked). Loaded the brand new S6E with the same Applications as my prior phone and with the same applications as are on my wife's S6E.

Even before I finished loading the apps I started getting the "Unauthorized actions have been detected" Message with the popup "Restart your phone to undo any unauthorized changes."

Thing is, this message is totally bogus. There are no changes, restarting the phone does nothing, and the message recurs every few minutes.

So this appears to be a bug in the Knox application that comes standard on the phone. It can't be removed without rooting the phone.

Checking the online support forums, lots of other folks are having the same problem.

Official VZW support appears to be swamped (could it be with this problem?).

So does anyone have any fresh insight as to how to stop this without rooting the phone? Also any intelligence on when a fix might be available through "official" VZW channels?

Phone details: Android 5.0.2, Model SM G925V, yes - I updated security policy, Knox version 2.4

Any meaningful insight would be appreciated. Noob comments will not.

Bill, we never want you to have any issues with your replacement phone. I am sure this is alarming as your wife's phone is the same as you expected. If you filed an insurance claim with Asurion and they sent you the replacement phone you would need to reach out to them at 888-881-2622. They now cover the warranty on the phone. I am confident they will be able to further assist and resolve this error message.

Thank you for your response, but I don't think that would help.

I've been following other discussion threads and a replacement phone doesn't necessarily solve the problem. It's a software problem and not a hardware problem.

Some other folks with this problem reported that Samsung said about 2 weeks ago that there would be a fix out for it in 2 weeks (i.e. right about now. Apparently this is a bug in the SecurityLogAgent - part of Samsung Knox, I believe). So I'm wondering if this fix is imminent.

I could contact Asurion for a replacement (they supplied my replacement S3E that has the problem that I received last Thursday), but I believe (based on what I've been reading) that it would likely have the problem too. Plus if a fix is imminent, it would be repaired before the replacement arrived.

Anyway, there's no need to keep swapping phones if it won't fix the problem.

You all at VZW should have a better insight into this problem, What does Level 2 support say?

This is a known problem and if they will give you a NEW phone then I saw swap it out until one works, if you're getting refurbished phones, I wouldn't. Not all of the S6's do this; or this forum would be littered with the problem. I've seen a small handful of people come on here with the issue and you're right, there is still not an official fix.

So I waited a bit longer and the problem still is occurring.

Following RobinD_VZW's advice, I called Asurion this morning and went through the process of resetting the phone to factory settings and re-activating it. Didn't help. The problem started to recur before the apps were even restored.

Asurion is sending me another replacement S6E. It's scheduled to arrive tomorrow. If this does fix the problem, I will click the "Correct Answer" button on your original suggestion.

I'm holding my breath that this will fix the problem.

Something different you can try is this:

Download the "package disabler" app and then disable the securitylogagent and see if that works.

Well, I did install "package disabler" and turn off the securitylogagent. It did stop the error messages. But now the phone is running significantly (and painfully) slower.

I hope the replacement phone, arriving later today, doesn't have the problem.

As previously mentioned, my wife's phone, Also an S6E with the same apps doesn't have the problem. Nor did my prior S6E that had to be replaced due to a badly cracked screen.

OK - So I got the second replacement phone and it seem to be working fine, without the problem.

It did however NOT reload the apps and settings. I had to manually reload each App.

Took a few hours but now we're up and working AOK, no error messages and no slowdowns.

Good choice. A little time at the start. But hopefully it saves you a headache down the road.
