I have an S4 Mini. I was wondering if Lollipop is going to be made available on it as well.
Samsung had been developing a version of Lollipop for the S4 Mini, but canceled it due to RAM limitations. (Source)
International versions of the Galaxy S4 Mini, however, can be upgraded to Lollipop and even Marshmallow builds of Cyanogenmod as seen here, showing that the device is capable of running Android Lollipop. (And Android Marshmallow.) Unfortunately, there are no builds of Cyanogenmod or any other Lollipop/Marshmallow based ROMS for the Verizon version (SCH-I435) due to the fact that the Verizon version's boot-loader cannot be unlocked. This is, from what I understand, to prevent an influx of customer service calls as people who don't know what they're doing brick their devices. Unfortunately, for people who are experienced this is very limiting. Therefore, we seem to be stuck with Android 4.4 on the Galaxy S4 Mini on Verizon, which is rather unfortunate as it's not as battery efficient and is quite out of date by now, especially with Android Nougat on the horizon.
Excellent question adsb,
Currently we don't have any information on if Lollipop for the S4 Mini will be available or not. Is there something going on with your device that we can help wtih? Please share.
