LG Lucid 3: How can I get rid of the text message indicator? It says I have a text message, but I do not.

I have a new LG Lucid 3 and the text message indicator says I have a new message, but I do not. Messaging is empty when I click on it. How can I get rid of the "1" indicator? I tried turning the phone on and off and that did not work.

That can get irritating! It can either be a false notifier in the network, or an issue on the device. Have you tried going settings/application manager/all/ select the messaging application/clear data/clear cache/. I will advised that many devices will not delete the message content when you try this . But there are some that do. If you have an important message please safeguard it.

Hi BobbyN,

Unfortunately, that did not work. I even tried removing and reinstalling the battery and reset to factory default and nothing has worked.

Thanks for trying, Anzivina! You've done some strong troubleshooting. Although I do wish it had resolved this matter, I believe we still have options. You've indicated that you've done a factory reset. Can you walk me through the steps you took to get there? Also, after the factory reset, how long before this message indicator appeared again? Was it before or after you restored all your personal data?

Hi DionM,

I think I said the wrong thing. I actually did a Settings/backup& restore/Reset settings and not a factory reset. I did not want to try to do a factory reset without knowing that all my personal data would be able to be easily restored. I also went into settngs/application manager/messaging/clear data/clear cache and force stop. After I powered the phone on and off, the message indicator was still there.
