Droid Turbo

I got a Droid Turbo yesterday and I have been trying to power the phone off but charge it at the same time. This phone will not power off as long as the cord is plugged in. Is there a way to fix this? My phone isn't charging as quick since it's "on".

Congratulations on your new phone! I understand why you're concerned about your phone's functions, we want to make sure you're able to utilize it as expected. Thanks for trying the steps suggested, we'd love to offer more help. Are you plugging it in to charge after you power off? If so, try plugging it in to charge and then press and hold the power button until it powers off. Keep in mind, you want to hold it until it powers off, not restarts. Also, if you're concerned about powering it off to ensure it charges faster, you can also enable "Airplane Mode". This disables all cell service and allows your phone to charge and conserve power faster. Keep us posted on the results.

Have you fiddled with the Developer Options? Go to Settings/Developer Options and make sure Stay Awake isn't checked on.

I just went there and it was selected. I unselected it and it did help buy still will not power off.

I was not holding it down the entire time so it was restarting. I will try that! Thank you! The guide I was given has basic info and so stuff like this is hard to find. Now to see how to do screenshots.

Press and hold the power and volume down buttons together until you hear a camera shutter sound. Easy as that.

Turn the phone off before you plug it in to charge? That would seem to be a simple solution....

If its taking a long period of time to power it off you probably have a Bad Switch or one that is Sticking or there is something wrong in the volume Rocker I'd return the phone for A replacement you have 14 Days Holding in on Just the Power Button for 5 to 10 Sec. will power Cycle the Turbo its similar to my Phone the Droid Maxx if won't power cycle doing this procedure you more N likely have a Malfunctioning switch..

I tried that but even if the phone was completely off, when I would plug the charger in it would power up.

Are you connecting the charger directly to a wall outlet, or through usb to a computer, etc?

If I'm connected directly to an outlet, I can power off... while, if I'm connected through usb to a desktop, if I try to power off, it goes off & immediately restarts. Hope this helps you!

Good Suggestion it's always best to charge using the In Box charger & Wall outlet never use the USB via Computer..

I was using the wall charger that was supplied in the box. I will check the link that was posted and hopefully figure more stuff out about my phone. Thanks again for all your help!

Hmm.mine shows a quick battery level indicator if it's powered off when I plug it in to charge, then goes off again. And it doesn't take all that long to fully charge even if it's powered on. I rarely power mine off completely

If the Battery is in a Deep state of Discharge it may take a few min. up to say 15 to 30 min. to pull the phone up to were it's showing on the Display I've seen this happen on a few occasions with my one of my phones could be there's possible problem in the charger any thing from a zap in electrical line to a passing storm Lightning can do some weird things and if the charger wasn't on a surge protector it may of done something.. All of my Devices from my computer modem & router to my phones are connected to a surge protector..
