LG G3 Lollipop update is a JOKE!

Since updating my LG G3 to Lollipop, my notifications aren't working with WiFi and my battery isn't lasting as long. My phone is only a month old, but now, it runs like my old LG Lucid; Slow. Facebook, Instagram and browser are lagging bigtime. Is Verizon going to fix this problem, soon? I don't want to go over my data allowance, because of this. My phone was working just fine with Kit Kat.

I would suggest you do a full factory reset. What you have is a software (apps) conflict problem with lollipop. One or more of the apps that you installed is not the right version for lollipop and that causes the problems. You are going to have to get rid of them through trial and error method or a factory reset. For further reference to get the best results from a major update with the lease problems you should factory reset the phone before you download and install the update, then immediately after factory reset the phone again.

I did a factory reset and my problems didn't get better. Instagram is still loading slowly, and Facebook is lagging. Right now, I'm not very satisfied with Lollipop or Verizon Wireless.

I don't have a problem with performance other than the battery drain (I have 2 batteries anyway) and the heating up.

I can tell you a workaround for the notifications over wifi.

Go to Settings---Wifi---that the 3 dots at the top right and select Advanced then Keep Wi-Fi on when screen is off anf change that to No. What this does is turns wifi off about a minutes after you turn the screen off. The Wi-Fi connection is interfering with the device connecting to the cellular data to send the "heartbeat" to Google's servers. I have had it enable for about 5 days and it seems to be working out for me.

If I do this, it will start using my data, while the screen is off, right?

For what? You can't stream video when the screen is off. You would use no more data this way than you would if you were on a long road trip and weren't connected to a wifi and your screen was off. So if you're not streaming Pandora or anything like that you shouldn't have a huge data spike. Besides, eve with the wifi connected and the phone asleep, before this Lollipop issue, you were already using some data still.

Me too. I havent found any help with the problems either. It seems everyone who ive apoken to that got this update is having issues.

That's usually what happens when there is a buggy software update. It's not just a few random people with issues. It's the whole lot of us with all of the issues. We can be mad and complain all we want or we can figure out ways to help each other get by until the fix is released. I choose the latter and that is why I shared the information that I did.

I'm having the same exact issues. I get no notifications at all and Facebook won't load if I'm connected to WiFi, but if I turn off the WiFi and go to 4G, everything pops up/works all at once. I haven't noticed my battery draining any more than normal, but it has gotten hot while charging. My phone is less two months old as well, and was working beautifully on KitKat, so this is extraordinarily frustrating! This issue is clearly widespread based on this and many other forums, so I really hope Verizon does something about this. Going over our data limits because of their crappy software update is unacceptable.

Did you see my comment about the notifications? Also, you may want to back up your phone and factory reset. I did that and it is better but not the same. We just have to wait for GOOGLE to push an update.

I'll certainly try the Wifi trick. I actually did a factory reset and now everything is worse. I'm not even getting notifications over 4G. I do think Verizon needs to know that many of us are having these problems, so hopefully this forum helps! Thanks for the tips - we'll see what happens.

So, we can agree, doing a factory reset does not fix this issue.

I'm sorry the factory reset did not help with your phone issues Dee070878. I know its frustrating to have problems with applications but we have some steps to help get your issues resolved. After your factory reset, did you reload all your current apps? I recommend removing Instagram, Facebook and any other problematic apps temporarily and reloading them back to your phone. They may need an update because old versions may not be compatible with the new software on your device. Keep us posted.

My LG G3 never had any issues until the update. I use Google play music to listen to music in my truck. Now, it won't make it through a whole song before it gets all garbled. I've tried taking the battery out, uninstalling the Google play update, etc.....still having problems. One interesting thing I noticed was when I opened settings>app manager>all, it shows all the apps on my phone along with their install date. Every single app associated with Google now says it was installed 1/1/1970!!!!

So, after spending almost an hour on the phone with Verizon, and LG their fix is for me to send my phone in to be "flushed". So, I'm looking at being without a phone for 2 weeks at least. My question is this: why push an update to us without thoroughly beta-testing it to verify there are no compatibility issues?????!!!!

None of my notifications work either. That's kind of a problem for a business phone where I need the notifications to be working.

First---FACTORY RESET your device. I know it's a pain in the a but you should do it. Then see my comment on wifi and notifications. I haven't had a problem with this since I did what I posted. My only issues are serious battery drain and getting hot.

Everyone said 'where's lollipop?!?' and 'I'm leaving Verizon because they won't release Lollipop!!!'.

Now that it's here everyone is complaining. You can't let them test it and complain that they are then turn around and complain that it doesn't work when it is released if they haven't tested it fully yet. Also, they can run all kinds of controlled tests but until the masses have it they don't know what the real issues are.

You're one of the lucky ones. It completely bricked my new LG G3. When I took it to the Verizon corporate store the guy said it was the 7th one he had seen that happen to that day...and it was only 1pm.

Just got back home and the notification issue is back. This is very annoying. Btw, I'm not going to do a factory reset. I personally know someone who did it and it didn't work. Guess I'll just have to wait until Verizon or Google, fixes this problem.

Having the exact same issue with mine as well. I guess we'll need to wait for them (either Verizon, LG or Google) to release a new update that would fix these issues.

Or Maybe Verizon should have followed AT&T example and thoroughly tested it before massively messing up some peoples phones.

AT&T released it 6 weeks before VZW and they have the same issues.

You are correct. It is a waste to do a reset as it only resolved the battery drain problem which can also be done by clearing the cache. Missing app notification problem can only be fixed by a software update (which hopefully don't introduce other problems).

Fixed my notification issues by installing DNSet application. It's working good so far.
