Has a solution been found for the battery life problem after the Galexy S5 update?!

Andriod System and Andriod OS eating all of my battery causing in to drain 15%an hour after the update. Yes if have uninstalled all unnecessary apps and disable everything I can. Has a solution been found yet? I know Im not the only person who has had this problem from my research. Is there a fix?!

All you people having issues need to do a factory reset. That is just normal operating procedure when upgrading an OS.

Ive said that till I was blue in the face, but then you hear "I did one and it still doesnt work" or "I refuse to do a reset and spend my time setting my phone back up". But yet they have time to cry and moan in the forums. Its like get over it.

DONT do a Factory Reset. It will not help and is NOT necessary after an update.

Your issues are multi phased.

Go to Settings>Battery and see what is using the power

1) with a new Operating system, your phone will optimize the system and apps, this in itself can take a few days.

2) aside from that, you should try running the phone in Safe Mode as this loads only the core stuff necessary to run the phone.

3) if Safe Mode works then it Is one of your Third Party Apps and would be easy to track down

4) if it is one of the apps it is recommended that you uninstall them run the phone then start installing them slowly until you find the offending app

5) If running in Safe mode has NOT worked, then you need to deep dive a bit more. Open Settings>Apps and go to the ALL tab. Go in and start Force Stopping apps such as Camera, Sync etc...(the last Samsung update the Camera was frozen and would drain the battery pretty fast)

It is most likely a third party app causing the slowness. As a last resort you can bring your phone to a Best Buy and go to the Samsung Kiosk or Booth inside the store. These are manned by Samsung Employees and you would ask them to re flash your phone. They will plug it into their computer and load the software directly from their servers and not over the air. This would be the cleanest install you can get on these phones but it may not fix the issue if Samsung coded part of it incorrectly or if the camera app is not updated and is incompatible with Lollipop which is causing it to run continuously.

I got my information from Motorola Software and hardware Development, Google Development, LG Development and Samsung Development. The entire intent of the phones just like a computer is, you have stuff on your phone from the day you get it so when you update software, your stuff remains usable just as before the update. You can do a Factory reset after an upload which will clean out any debris left over from the old OS and old applications but it is not required. Something much more beneficial in those instances are Cache Partition Wipes which do exactly the same thing, take only a few minutes and do not mess with your data on the phone.

Some people swear by doing the FDR after an update and I must say at the beginning I did the same thing. FDR's are meant for unrecoverable situations and it will put the phone back to an original state with only the current (Current OS that is loaded on the phone) factory software on it.
