When is Wifi calling going to be available on Verizon Wireless?

Last I heard it was coming 'Mid-year 2015' - this announcement was made back in September 2014 - http://www.phonearena.com/news/Verizons-Shammo-Expect-Wi-Fi-calling-in-2015_id60880

Also, I find Fran Shammo's hand-waving of Wifi calling an very arrogant/weak argument - there are locations in buildings, in basements, that will never receive a cellular signal. Many people face this on a daily basis. Well maintained wifi is a reality in many business settings, and Verizon customers in these situations would benefit greatly from having wifi calling available.

When will Verizon customers have access to Wifi calling in 2015?

sprmankalel - That's very different than the Wifi calling I'm describing here. Wifi calling allows you to use the number you own, and people who are receiving your calls/SMS messages see your usual number.

I realize exactly what you're talking about. I'm not a fool. Google Voice has been around for a few years and has been such a viable option. So you give people a second number that they program into their phone under your name. Whoppdy-doo!

Sounds like a winner to me.

I have wifi calling on my sprint device. Used it to see how it worked and that was that. I'm never without a signal. No need for it on my Verizon device.

Even as far back as a year ago. Nonetheless, don't expect it anytime soon unless Verizon rolls it out as their own idea and that they thought of it first.

The new service called verifi, will help those who choose not to have a network extender. But high speed Internet will be needed for this and you will not be able to surf and talk at the same time.

sprmankalel - I find it disingenuous then that you are attempting to pass off Google Voice calling as carrier supported Wifi calling. Google Voice uses Wifi to make calls, but is very different than handset/carrier integrated Wifi calling. The latter is the more elegant solution that Verizon has been beat to by two of its competitors, and remains silent on when they will actually catch up. The intent of this post was to perhaps sluth out some truth from the VZ side from perhaps an anonymous poster/employee from within VZW (ps - if you're out there VZ employee, Tor is a great resource to post anonymously!)

Any update on whether Verizon is going to follow through on this? I live in Wyoming and the cellular signal is bad enough, but we have to stand in certain areas of our house to avoid loosing calls--would really be nice to utilize my wireless network (which even works in the basement) to avoid loss of signal and actually be able to stand anywhere instead of running from one cellular hot spot to the next. Of course, being from Wyoming I am sure Verizon will immediately roll this technology out here because this is where it would be of benefit to the user the most! Right.

There you have it...wifi calling is nowhere to be seen for a while, if ever. That's what I took the last vzw rep's response as when offering to suggest a network extender.
