VERY UPSET

My billing just started over at midnight. (5/29/15) I was checking and since midnight I've used 24 Megabytes of DATA. What I'm wandering is HOW HAVE I USED 24 MEGABYTES OF DATA WHEN MY PHONE HAS BEEN CONNECTED TO WIFI SINCE 11:30 PM!?!?!?!?!!?!! I'm being charged for 2 GB of extra data on my new bill and now I'm VERY UPSET because I'm just wandering how much of my DATA usage from last month was while I was connected on my WIFI. And the thing is, I checked my log on my home router, and yes, my phone used 24 MB of data THROUGH MY WIFI!

Something is REAL WRONG here.

VERY UPSET.

If you go to Mobile Data under the phones settings tab, what apps are using the data since cycle reset?

I agree that your phone should be using your Wi-Fi if it is connected grayrock! What is the make/model of your device? When did this start? I do know sometimes if you Wi-Fi has a weak signal it will use mobile data.

Before I go through all that, what would any of that have to do with the fact that my phone has been connected to my WiFi and still having that DATA deducted from my allotted amount? I barely get a signal out here to send and receive text messages, let alone DATA. That is why I have A wireless ROUTER. Just asking, and I'm very UPSET!

Well, if we know what phone you are using, and perhaps what version of the OS you have installed, we can narrow down some factors causing you grief. Knowing what apps are using data can help out as well. On Android, for instance, apps now have permissions that can revert to mobile data instead of wifi.

Exactly why we needed to know what device you are on as each device and its operating system can affect how a device functions. iPhones definitely go to wifi during periods of inactivity. Despite your poor signal, when your phone disconnects from wifi and finds even a little signal that it can hold onto then those apps are now on mobile data.
