When using mutiple devices in a car, from a data usage perspective, is it best to let each device use the phone connection independently or would it be less data if one device created a hotspot and the others used the wifi hotspot connection.
IT won't make any difference in data use. Depending on the phone's hot spot and cell reception, you might get a slow down if there are more devices and poor reception.
Thank you for the response. That makes sense. One further question. Does the hotspot itself take up more data just by being activated? It seems like I use more total data when using a hotspot as opposed to letting each device use it's own data.
NO. The hot spot only registers the use of the connected devices and the phones normal use.
i Tether my tablet all the time. Still surprised surfing uses so little data.

I Should add, video racks up a lot of data. If you are doing a long road trip, Download over wifi as often as possible.
games are the second highest user.
