Galaxy S5 sends/receives duplicate texts. Intermittent problem. This seems to be a common problem and I haven't found an answer online yet. Clearing cache, restarting phone... did not make a difference. Anyone know how to fix this?
I would be concerned too if my phone was doing this. When did this first start? Is it happening with a specific number? Which texting app are you using? It is a recent message that gets duplicated? What signal are you getting on the device?

Hi, I've worked with Verizon tech support & they've escalated it as no one seems to know what's causing it. When the last tech texted me from Verizon -- no duplication. When he texted from his own phone -- duplication. We did all kinds of troubleshooting, it still persists. As far as I can tell it started on Wed 8/26., and is not confined to a specific number or carrier. Signal on the device is fine. Phone is updated and last system update (8/15) predates the problem. Also, for awhile a message would come through as "downloading" and I had to touch that to make it come up. It doesn't do that now, but that started pretty much around the same time as the duplication issue.
Thanks

I would give it another 24 hours or so to see if it clears up. I have occasionally had this problem with Verizon the last x amount of years, but it always clears up on it's own. Especially because you've done everything that you can with the device to rule it out, I believe it to be on Verizon's end. Around the same time I had this problem last, there were a couple other reports on the forum of it happening to them. Just my deduction of it all.
I am getting duplicate notifications but not text msgs. It's like when someone posts something to Facebook or responds to my fb msgs I get these duplicate responses. Not text msgs. Any suggestions for this problem?
By the way it's been doing this for several weeks. It drives me crazy because I can't figure it out.
That sounds like an app issue. You could delete the data and cache for that facebook app and see if that helps.
I can't speak to the person who mentioned a similar, but different issue with regard to FB. Mine is straight up duplicate texts, and deleting cache and data was one of the first troubleshooting steps, but thanks for mentioning in case it helps someone else.

Golfnut49, we want to help in any way that we can with this duplicate text messaging issue. Are you using the default app from Samsung called Messages or another messaging app? When this happens have you noticed if your phone is losing signal?StevenG_VZWFollow us on Twitter @VZWSupportIf my response answered your question please click the Correct Answer button under my response.
