I purchased an iPhone in store and traded in (or thats what I thought) an old phone to get $300 VZW gift card. The rep confirmed that I would get $300 and it will be sent by email within few minutes after I add the line. So, I added the line and nothing happened. I was told to wait a little bit as it may take few hours. So I left the store but wasn't given any receipt or anything that mentions the trade in.
The next day I went to the store and was told that it can take 3-5 days and there will be a code sent to me after which I have to come back to the store to process the trade in (note that they are still holding to me traded in device). This is completely different than what I was told before adding a new line.
Can someone from Verizon confirm what exactly is the process for in store trade in? Since I wasn't given any receipt or anything, should I be worried? The whole process is very shady and seems like nobody in the store knows anything.
On top of that I mentioned to them that the activation fee was waived online and they told me that they can take care of that. As soon as I added the line, they mentioned there is nothing they can do about that. I didn't bother that much since the $300 trade in credit will offset the activation fee. But these store employees are starting to look like car dealers.
Not a very exciting experience for a new customer.
