Got the Motorola Droid in December, any way to get Droid X for 199.99?

I was one of those people who purchased a Motorola Droid last December and I really want to upgrade to the Motorola Droid X without having to pay $499.99-$600.00 . I am on a family plan and my father would have no issues reupping with Verizon for another 2-year contract extension if I can somehow get the Droid X at the discounted price. We have been longtime customers ( around 8 years or so ) and have always been on their more expensive plans.

Is there any way we could talk a store manager or something into allowing us to upgrade for $199.99 or $299.99? You would think that as a longtime customer, as well as somebody who pays a nice amount to them every month, and is willing to fork over another couple hundred dollars on a new phone for them would be more than happy to take our money, but I know this is not always the case. Is there any hope for me?

give the droid to another family member and do alternate upgrade on one line in your family plan (if eligible ) that should cost you only $200

When you buy a phone at a reduced price and sign a 2 year contract, you are basically financing the balance of the phone over the 2 year time period. It doesn't matter how long you have been a customer or how much you spend, you have to finish paying for the phone. As already suggested, you could get someone else on your father's plan to assume the contract for the Droid and you could sign a new contract for the Droid X.

I dont think you HAVE to give your droid to another member if they dont want it, but can still use another members upgrade if they have one to get the X!! Good Luck!

Yes, rydiwags is correct. As long as someone on your family plan is eligible for an upgrade, have that person upgrade to the Droid X, and then have the store switch phone numbers and phones back to whomever wants them.

We used to do it all the time. My wife was eligible for an upgrade and I used it, or visa-versa. Or, our neice (who was on our family plan at the time) was eligible to upgrade and my wife or I would use her upgrade. In effect, we got 3 upgrades every two years. My wife has since defected to AT&T for an iPhone (traitor.... haha!) The neice left and went on my wifes sisters plan, so now I'm all alone. Was looking at the EVO, but now with the Droid X showing up, I think that's gonna be my next phone. I have an $100 NE2 coming since March too.

But someone is still going to end up with the Droid and both the Droid and Droid X still have to be paid for. Same difference.
