Samsung Galaxy S5

Have an issue that VRZ tech support and me have been circling but cannot seem to resolve. My phone does not recognize my SD card as it should. It shows up as a separate entity only. In other words the phone will read it like separate storage, but will not let me move data from main storage, assign downloads to be stored there, and the likes.

The SD card is a great way to free up space on your phone so I completely understand the importance of it working properly. DJMattley, have you always had this issue on this phone or did it recently start? Is it not allowing to move certain things to the SD card or is it not allowing you to move anything at all? Do you currently have anything saved on the SD card?

Are you using a file manager app like ES File Explorer File Manager - Android Apps on Google Play ?

Apps can't be saved to an SD card; you *should* be able to set your camera to store photos and videos on the SD card, and as for downloads, I'm not sure if you can set that default to the SD card or not. You CAN manually move the downloaded files to the SD card periodically to keep the phone memory freed up if space becomes an issue.

No I am not running the programs you mentioned, and can't download or install anything until I free up system memory. I went out and deleted downloads, all caches, and some other files that did not look necessary to run the phone. However, everything deleted, the screens say "there are no downloads", yet the system says I still have 13.7 mb of downloads. And this is the same for every area I cleaned; the initial screen still shows the mb's are still there. And this is after a total power off, battery removal, SD and SIM card removal, then after a minute or so, putting it all back together. on the Total Space screen for device memory, "Downloads" still say 13.07MB, but the "Download History" screen says "No Downloads". Maybe my phone is just broke and needs replaced.

Oh, in response to the SD card, my camera is set to it and it works: pics and vids are saved/stored their. But T/S, when I talked to them, had me pull up some screens and said the camera was not treating the SD card as it was supposed to be used by the system. It would be nice if the Android system programmers made the system program to use the SD card as extended system memory. What do they think, we are a bunch of dummies out here? Put all the main modules of the system program in device memory, allow some (like system data) to be stored on the SD card (ringtones, etc).

Try doing a system cache clear - it won't delete any programs or data but may free some space that you can't get to any other way.
