Droid turbo deleted my contacts, how to restore them?

I went to bed Friday night with my phone plugged into the charger and working perfectly. When I woke up Saturday morning everything looked normal except my droid turbo had a banner on the bottom of the screen that said safe mode. I have no clue how the phone went into safe mode, but I started noticing weird things. The vibrate mode was completely missing from the phone and I could not put it on vibrate mode for notifications. I then noticed that the majority of my contacts were gone. I'm probably missing about 200 contacts while maybe 15 remained. Is there any way to restore the phone to the way it was on Friday or anyway to restore or locate the deleted contacts? I had Verizon cloud disabled due to a weird battery draining issue it was causing, I also can't get into VZ backup because it does not like any of the username or password combinations I'm trying. I need help restoring the contacts please!

You need to go into Verizon Cloud from a Computer (this will not work from a phone).  Once logged into Verizon Cloud from your computer go to the Trashcan and move all of your contacts out of the trashcan back to the active area so they are active contacts.  Force a sync between Cloud and your device.

Go into your phone and change ALL of your contacts to Google Contacts, and check the box to sync Google (Contacts Optimizer from Google Play is the easiest way to change them).  Once they are synced to Google go back into the Cloud and delete all of your contacts and leave Google as your backup solution for your phone.  Backing up to Google is how the phone and the Android OS was designed so you are only putting it back to default which happens to be a much more reliable backup source then Verizon Cloud
