Turning off boot up sound

I can't figure out how to turn off the sound when the my Eris is turned on. Is there a way? If so what would that be.

Settings>sound & display>media volume.

This says "set volume for music and videos". I don't want to lower or turn off the sound for my music and videos, only for when the phone turns on and off. On all my other phones I was able to do this, but I can't find anything on this phone that allows me to turn off the sound when the phone powers up.

Sorry, but that's the only thing I've found that controls the boot up sounds on this phone. FWIW, you can use the volume rocker on the side of the phone while watching vids or listening to music to turn them up or dwn. But if you leave it up, it will be loud again when you boot up. No correction for that in 2.1 AFAIK. Personally, I've found a happy medium 'volume-wise'.
