broken s5, green light flickering when battery inserted ... can I manually recover data?

I have a Galaxy S5, that just stopped functioning a few days ago. I just received a replacement phone in the mail after troubleshooting, but there are some pictures on the device that I would really like to recover.

I will describe the symptoms:

*when inserting the battery from scratch, there's nothing indicated on the phone

*the phone's screen doesn't turn on when I press the power button. a green LED flashes int he top left of the screen. looks like Morse code, for the frequency.

*when attempting the hard reset (volume up/down, power, and home button), the green LED flickers in the top left of the screen. Same Morse code frequency

Is there any hope for recovering the data from the memory portion of the phone?

Is there a hidden SD card that I could pull, and insert into a computer?

I last backed up everything about 1 month ago ... And my cloud storage was full ...And there are pictures of my young son, since then, that I would like to recover.

I'm so sorry you're having trouble with your device, DirkL1! Let's see how we can help. If you have a memory card in your device, you can remove it and retrieve any saved data from it. Here are instructions for removing, you can check to see if you have one, but they do not come with the device. http://www.verizonwireless.com/support/knowledge-base-99559/

If that doesn't work and you've already tried removing and reinserting the battery, the next step would be a factory reset which does erase the device. Please keep us posted, and let us know how we can continue to help!

Hi,

(I'm an IT guy, I play with Arduinos, I know about the difference between the SD card and internal memory ...) Unfortunately, I hadn't gotten around to configuring everything (camera/gallery, texts, etc) to save (periodically or by default) to the SD card, and I really am asking about the data from the phone ... I am wondering if there is a magic way to disable all inputs on the phone (such as a defective screen?), and use it like a USB drive ... or something equivalent ...

the phone itself appears hosed.

I should elaborate that, on attempting a Hard Reset, there is no vibration .. and nothing appears on the screen .. hence my suspicion that the screen is defective.

It doesn't come with a micro SD card. Does anything show up when you connect to a computer via usb? You may be able to pull dcim folder to save pics
