My galaxy j1 went to a red Verizon screen and says system unavailable. System is down for maintenance. Has this happened to someone else? Does anyone know what's going on?

I keep getting roaming network notifications asking if I want to allow data access on this trip (outside of the U.S.) I live In South Georgia, nowhere close to an international border! Is this anything to worry about?
I'm glad you asked, Marti1955. You can turn on the Roaming on your phone, as you may not be close to a tower. Therefore, you may need to connect to another carrier's towers, but as long as you're in the U.S., and on a Nationwide/ More Everything plan, there won't be any roaming charges. You can also update the network on the phone. If you have a 4G phone, you can power off, remove SIM for about 1 minute, then reinsert and restart. If you have a 3G phone, you can dial *228 [send], option 1 to re-program. When completed, the phone will restart.
