Breaking Standard Contract and Joining Edge Plan

Hello, I have a family plan with four lines and 6GB data. I am paying $40 per month for each line. I like to switch my line to Edge plan. I upgraded my phone in June 2015 and signed a two year contract which expire in June 20117. Is it possible to break my contract, pay $350 early termination fee and join Edge plan. I assume I will be paying $15 a month instead of $40 now. Potentially I can save $550 in monthly fee after paying $350 termination fee.

The Device Payment Plan (formally known as Edge) is a great way to get a phone Mahmood. It does have some great plan savings available for you. We can change your line from a 2 year contract to Device Payment plan if done within the first 14 days of purchase. That would incur no penalty. Since you are outside of those 14 days, you can go about breaking the contract as you had described in your message. One thing I need to make you aware of is if you cancel that line, you will cancel your current number. There isn't a guarantee that if you were to open a new line with Device Payment that you would be able to get that number back. I also wanted to make sure you were aware that although your line charge is only $15.00 per month, you will also have the addition of the phone payment on your bill each month. You don't understand how it works... You have to add the installment payments on the phone to the bill.

The plan is "More Everything"

Edge is an interest free loan on a phone.

PAying $350 in ETFs on top of what you already paid up front pay off the phone, but you also lose your number and cancel your current plan.

Why did you go with a contract? I can only assume Verizon tried to sell you on the Edge plan.

No, you cannot pay the ETF and go on the Edge plan. First of all, the Edge plan is simply an interest free loan to purchase a phone. You just purchased a phone in June. Are you already going to purchase a new phone now? That is the only way to go on the Edge plan, purchase a phone and make monthly payments on it.:smileyhappy:

Many people on these forums have been saying for quite some time how you can save money by going on Edge with a 6 GB or higher data allowance, yet MANY still don't listen and choose to go with a contract. I would guess you will have to complete you contract with the $40/month line access fee and THEN you can either purchase a new phone on Edge or stay month to month and get an equivalent discount for being out of contract if still available by purchasing a new phone at full retail up front or keeping your current phone.:smileyhappy:

Did you upgrade ALL phones in June? Each line has its own contract and you can get the discount for being month to month or go on Edge as each line becomes eligible. You appear to have only upgraded 1 phone in June. Making that purchase on Edge would STILL have you paying 3 out of 4 line access fees of $40/month.
