How do I sign into Google?

I just activated a new phone and it wont allow me to sign into anything google related. any help? getting seriously frustrated.

What phone? what happens when you try to sign in?

HTC desire 526. And it says just one sec and then says try again or can't connect to server. It's currently updating the entire system. So fingers crossed it'll let me sign into everything after...

I always count down the days until I'm elgible for an upgrade, so I know how frustrating it can be when things do not cooperate. I definitely want to make sure that you are able to sign into your Google related accounts. What seems to happen when you try to log in?
