Why does my DROID4 will no longer work when plugged in?

Beginning this afternoon, my DROID4 no longer works when plugged in & charging. The screen is lit, but you cannot access any apps, turn off the alarm, etc. I've tried a soft reset (turning it off and then back on), turning off the USB debugging and again doing a soft reset, but nothing works. The phone seems to work fine as long as it is not charging.

Make sure you are using an OEM Motorola USB cable and the OEM charging block. If you already are, try a new one.

This is not the experience we want you to have with your device, ChicagoGirl872. Let's roll up our sleeves and get this figured out. As Snn5 stated, you want to ensure you are using the correct charger. Have you tried using a different charger to see if the same result happens? Has there been any recent change to the device such as recent downloads? Thank you for your comments, but the problem spontaneously fixed itself the following day. The only explanation I can come up with is that it needed a long rest because it has worked fine ever since I turned it on again after a 2-hour flight. As for the charger and cable, I used them both prior to this incident with no problem and both seem to work fine now. And I did try other chargers and cables and had the same result i.e. the touchscreen didn't work while the phone was charging. I didn't download any new apps prior to the problem, but I did attempt to charge the phone using the USB plug in a rental car. (The lighter plug was taken up by my GPS.) Since the USB debugging option had been checked, I was told that was probably the origin of the issue, but as I mentioned, unchecking that box and doing a soft reset didn't fix things. I find the whole episode weird but will remember your suggestions if this ever happens again.
