The select (to delete or mark as read) boxes beside each message has disappeared and only appear if you go to Settings>Select . How can I get the select boxes to appear by default like before the update?
bigstar, Getting a software update is like getting a completely different phone. Many basic features do change. Let's work together to ge this fixed. What email application are you using (yahoo, gmail)? Are you using the default application on the phone?TrinetteW_VZWFollow us on Twitter @VZWSupportIf my response answered your question please click the Correct Answer button under my response. Hi TrintteW_VZW
I am using the default mail application on the phone. I have two accounts (exchange and verizon.net) but both operate the same way with respect to this display issue.
Thanks for the information bigstar. I know its important to have the right settings on your phone. Have you tried to remove the email accounts and add them back to your device.

Hi
I have not removing and reinstalling the email accounts. They work fine.
What I am trying to determine is if the update changed the layout of the email display with regards to the select boxes and if and how I can restore it to the state where the boxes are always there. Currently one has to select Settings>select to the get it to that.
If you long press an email in the list, the contact initial or avatar turn to a check mark - you can then tap the emails you want to delete, or move, or whatever, or use the box with the check at the top of the screen to select all and perform an action on all at once.
The key is to select one by long pressing it first.
