received a new Nexus 6P. I need it to replace my failing Note 4. my local Verizon store said no way , "you have break your contract an leave Verizon to use those" I know that is rediculous but can I simply request a new sum or do I need to go into a better store?

You need a nano sim card. If your current phone doesn't use a nano sim card, just go into a corporate Verizon store, tell them you'd like your current sim card replaced with a nano. You don't need to tell them why. Put the nano sim card in the new phone and you're set.

If they require you to have a nano sim card phone in order to give you a nano sim you could see about using a friends. Just got to get creative.

Using a Nexus phone won't break your contract. If the sales reps are saying that, they aren't well trained or they care more about the lost commission then doing their job properly.

No, it can take a number of days for them to respond. Sometimes it's within hours, sometimes days. Are you sure you went to a corporate store? Do you currently have a phone on contract? Edge? DPP?

I Switched my son from an iPhone 5s, to Note 4 to the 6p. I bought it for his birthday/Xmas gift. It is an awesome phone, my son loves it.

You can cut the SIM card down if you feel confident in doing so. Keep track of the corner cut in an angle.

I Bought a kit in Amazon, cutter and adapter kit, because I switch often. But the first switch I hand cut the sim myself with another old SIM card as a guide. It was pretty scary, but turns out the SIM cards are more forgiving than I thought. Try not to handle the gold side much, and keep it intact.

I Trimmed with very sharp scissors, then used a file gently to take a little more off for a good fit. You will note the sim drawer has the card oriented differently than the Note.

You will need to program APN settings for Verizon for it to work on the network.

Many thanks for taking the time to respond. I was debating which route to take. Odd in went to another V store and encouraged to "sell that on Ebay and come get an LG V10, we'll have it all ready to go!" yikes

Is it possible to email Verizon requesting the correct SIM? I am 45 minutes from a corporate store and last visit to one an hour 10 minutes away did not go so well. Thanks, j

I Looked at the V10. Looked good, but the subsequent problems as opposed to the fabulous 6P, lead me to vote it thumbs down. You have a fabulous phone. Hope you get it running soon.
