Intermittent text notifications

I keep my phone on vibrate (i.e., no sounds) all the time, but I find that my phone only vibrates when I receive a new text about 50% of the time. At first I thought this might be a phone issue, but it's happened for three different phones that I've owned (HTC Thunderbolt; Droid RAZR Maxx HD; Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge). I've checked the settings on the phone and on the texting app(s) about a million times. It's really annoying because about half the time I don't notice that people are texting me. Any ideas? Is it possible that there is an issue on the Verizon side?

That's quite an odd issue that you've described. I see that you explained this has occured on multiple devices. Does it begin immediately after receiving a new device or after a time period? Do you use any third party texting applications? A few more details and we should be able to find a root cause for you. Thanks!

Every time I get a new phone, I watch to see if it happens, but that sometimes takes a while to officially confirm. If it's in my pocket and I don't feel a vibration, I always assume that it's possible that I just didn't feel it. In order to confirm that it's happening, I wait for a time when I have my phone either in my hand or it's on a table in front of me, and a text comes in but nothing happens except the notification light starts blinking. It sometimes takes a few weeks to get that confirmation, so I can't quite say if it happens right away or takes time.

As far as apps go, for my first two phones I just used the stock Google messaging app that came with the phone. For the Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge, I've tried multiple apps, and I'm currently using the Verizon messaging app. It appears to happen with all of them.

We want you to receive alerts on your phone because text messages are so important. Text messaging is one of the best features of a cell phone. Do you have the trouble receiving notifications when you're phone is on Wi-Fi or when connected to our network? Does this occur in a certain area or any where? This may sound odd, but that was happening to me (but just on once device). I went to the Verizon Messages+ app, went to the three bars to the left of the Conversations screen, then Settings, and unchecked "Enable Popups". Notifications suddenly started working normally after that. Maybe the ghost just left my phone, but it couldn't hurt to try!

Great question Emma. On a previous phone (Droid Razr Maxx HD) I had an issue where I couldn't send group texts if I was connected to WiFi, but thankfully that went away when I got my new phone (Galaxy S6 Edge). As far as the vibration-notification issue goes, I feel like it has happened when away from places where I'm connected to WiFi, but I can't say that with 100% certainty. I've turned off WiFi for now, and so far I've gotten vibrations for all of my texts, though that doesn't necessarily mean that it's fixed.

Let's say that WiFi is the problem. Is there a fix for that?

deeanjo, thanks for the suggestion. Unfortunately, that was already unchecked in my app.
